Money workshop for the whole family with Rán Flygenring, an illustrator, and Stefán Pálsson, a historian. Speculation about the settlers’ currency and contemporary banknotes is the subject of the workshop, which is part of the project Við langeldinn / Við eldhúsborðið, which is funded by the Children’s Cultural Fund. Finally, speculations and a chat at the exhibition Kristín Þorkelsdóttir, the banknotes of the future will be drawn in Smiðjan, the educational space of the Design Museum. The workshop is free.
About By the long fire / At the kitchen table: In various workshops at Hönnunarsafn Íslands and Bókasafn Garðbær, children and their families will have the opportunity to reflect on life in the age of settlement in comparison with our lives today. Archeology, architecture, literature, design and handicrafts, history and ethnography are the subjects of the workshops, all of which are connected to the settlement hut located in Minjagarðurinn at Hofsstaðir. The workshops are free of charge, as they are funded by the Children’s Cultural Fund and the cultural and museum committee of Garðabær.
