Sunna Örlygsdóttir was born in Reykjavik, IS. Before receiving a BA in fashion design from the Iceland Academy of the Arts, she spent a year training in traditional needlecrafts at Skals Håndarbejdsskole in Skals, DK. She graduated from the ArtEZ Fashion Masters in Arnhem, NL, in 2016.
Sunna has a long-standing fascination for garments and their making and a penchant for (but not limited to) the following: all things odd and off-kilter, luxury and the richest of materials, time-consuming techniques, unconventional and resourcefully self-made fashions and objects.
Sunna will run a workshop in free needlework starting Tuesday the 14th. of October from 17–19. The workshop will take place in the museum three Tuesdays in a row. The fee is 12.500 ISK. The workshop can be booked through www.tix.is from 4th of October.
