Play and mend is a 2 day embroidery workshop on May 23rd-24th at the Museum of Design and Applied Art.

The workshop is led by artist, illustrator and designer Adriana Torres. She studied architecture and graphic design at the University of Buenos Aires and has represented Argentinian design in pavillions at 100% Design in London, Maison & Object in Paris and Pitti Bimbo in Italy. Adriana has received various awards including The Seal of Good Design, and has taught embroidery workshops worldwide, from Sao Paolo to Berlin to California.

In this workshop, participants will receive a silk screen printed fabric with a chair and a sweater design. During this session they will break, cut and damage the cloth, playing a game led by Adriana. Once they finish the game it will be time to start fixing! Adriana will introduce simple mending techniques, including the Brussel stitch – her favorite stitch which is perfect to repair holes. At the end of the day each student will have a beautiful mending sampler to use as a wall decoration for their studio or home.

Workshop fee: 15.990 kr

Included in fee: a printed fabric, embroidery yarn, needles and a handmade guidebook

Not included in fee: embroidery hoops.

Skill level: Open for all skill levels, no previous knowledge is required.
