We will be celebrating a new bookwork by Sigmundur P. Freysteinsson who is currently working in the open research space in the museum. The bookwork contains photos and information of around 440 samples series of natural colors from Icelandic environment.
To start with only ten copies will be produced and will be available on the event for 25.000 ISK.
Sólrún Arnardóttir, who is studying textile design at Central Saint Martins in London has assisted Sigmundur with the bookwork.
The aim of the project is to explore possibilities of Icelandic natural dyeing as an environmentally friendly alternative to dye textiles for modern design. The project is based on Icelandic traditions in natural dyeing and looks towards the future for how we develop better knowledge of what Iceland can give in this respect.
