On International Museum Day (May 18th), the Museum of Design wants to give its guests a gift in the form of a bathing journey.
The gift can be “opened” on our social media and also here: https://sundferdir.com/
The gift contains three specially designed bathing journeys in relation to our exhibition Sund. Bathing culture, which is currently on display at the museum. The three journeys are in the Westfjords, the West coast and along the South coast of Iceland. There is a road map on the website that suggests the best way to travel between the different pools. Also there is a short text with information about each pool.
This project was made with a grant from the Icelandic Center for Research. Sigríður Sigurjónsdóttir, the director of the museum was the instructor for the project. Three university students worked on it in the summer of 2021: Katrín Snorradóttir, MA in folklore studies, Móna Lea Óttarsdóttir, product design and Ragnheiður Stefánsdóttir, graphic design.
The students went to all the pools and met with guests and the caretakers of each place.
