Best Book Design from all over the World competition has been held since 1963 with the aim to encourage international dialogue on book design.

In 2025 the jury awards the book Forget Me Not / Vergissmeinnicht with the GOLDENE LETTER, the highest mention. The title is published by Building Fictions í Amsterdamand, the author is  Stéphanie Baechler and the designer is Rudi Guedj.

The jury comments:

»The sophisticated layout and immaculate production provide a truly fitting setting for this volume’s content. Forget Me Not explores the nearly forgotten 19th-century textile-drying towers of Eastern Switzerland, presenting them not merely as relics but as vibrant subjects reimagined through artistic intervention. At its essence, the book project stands out for its contemporary presentation of historical subjects, masterful use of typography and a narrative that seamlessly combines academic research with personal storytelling.«

In addition to the highest award, the »Goldene Letter«, another 13 books were awarded. The exhibition consist of all the 14 books which visitors are welcome to browse through.

The exhibition is a collaboration with The Association of Graphic Designers in Iceland and Stiftung Buchkunst.

In addition to the international books, the exhibition will also feature the 12 books nominated for this year’s Icelandic Book Design Awards.

The awards are presented by the Icelandic Publishers Association (FÍBÚT) and the Icelandic Association of Illustrators and Graphic Designers (FÍT). Awards will be given for outstanding book design in two categories: Best Book Cover and Best Overall Book Design.

All nominated books will be submitted on behalf of Iceland to the Stiftung Buchkunst awards.
