Can flowers bloom in the sky? Can a person transform into a firework?

Families are invited to a creative workshop at the Design Museum, growing their own flowers from yarn, paper and diverse materials. We draw inspiration from flowers that hold in common to have sparked ideas for firework design, from dahlias to crysanthemums and sunflowers.

Workshop leaders are Sigga Soffía, owner of ELDBLÓM, and Sigga Sunna, owner of ÞYKJÓ design. Together they have hosted visits of school children to the Design Museum over the past months. The results of the visits can be seen at the exhibition FLOWERBED, on display at our exhibition hall Behind the Scenes where Sigga Soffía is currently an artist in residency.
