Designer in residency Catherine Oxley is a Canadian artist, living in Reykjavík, whose hand-built paper botanicals, created under the studio name BOUQ Paper Flowers, are sculpted from fine crepe paper into blooms that carry the subtleties, movement, and presence of living flowers. Her practice is rooted in sustained observation, a discipline also sharpened through more than two decades in film and television. Working under the stage name Catherine Burdon (The Brink of War, Molly’s Game, Breach), Oxley learned to read gesture, atmosphere, and the charge of a held moment — a cinematic sensitivity she now brings to each bloom, composing it as a living presence held in stillness. What began as a one-of piece grew into nearly a decade devoted to the artistry of paper flowers.

The residency will culminate in a celebration on Friday, 27 November, which promises to be a wonderfully blossoming affair.
